10 ways to do KETO diet while on a college budget

10 ways to do KETO diet while on a college budget

The Keto diet is becoming a new fad. Many people are starting the keto diet. But it can be very expensive especially if you’re in college. Here are a few tips that I do so I can remain on a budget but still be in ketosis.

1. Buy fresh food as you need it so it doesn’t go to waste.

I try to buy as much fresh food as I can but try to buy it in normal amounts so I can eat all of it and make sure it doesn’t go to waste.

2. Freeze whatever you can to make it last longer.

I LOVE to freeze stuff. If you’re from Florida then you know what Publix is. I try to look at their buy one get one deals each week. Especially at the meats. They tend to have it on chicken all the time. I will buy a pack and then freeze the other one. It’s great!

3. Clip and use coupons.

Like I said I love to look at deals. I shop at Walmart a lot but if Publix will have it buy one get one then i’ll get in at Publix.

4. Sign up to receive coupons from your favorite keto food manufacturers’ websites.

This is a big one. I haven’t done this yet but my friend does it all the time and loves it.

5. Shop online and compare prices with your local store. Some online options for buying keto food include Amazon.com and https://eattoevolve.com

MANY stores price match. If you find some goodies online but they also have it in store just ask if they price match it doesn’t hurt to ask!

6. Buy your food in bulk (if it makes sense economically to do so).

The main things I buy in bulk are my snacks because they don’t go bad as fast. But for fruits, veggies, and meats I buy them weekly unless I’m freezing it.

7. Set up a weekly food budget for yourself and stick to it! Your parents/guardians can help you determine a budget that makes sense for you.

My mom did this for me and it has helped me a lot.

8. If your meal plan includes some sort of flex spending, find out if your card can be used off campus as well.

This is for if you have a meal plan while living on campus. Talk to the dining staff to see what keto foods they have or if they can make it for you. Like I said before it doesn’t hurt to ask!

9. Avoid small convenient stores as prices are usually higher.

I usually shop at Walmart and Publix.

10. Work with your roommate to split the cost of foods you both enjoy.

My boyfriend is my roommate and we save A LOT of money by splitting the cost of foods.

I hope these tips helps you! They’ve helped me save a lot of money hopefully they’ll help you save money too! Let me know if you have any other tips to save money.
